Thank you for taking the time to visit my site, I hope you enjoy the series from Treeture Creature and Flowerbuds and it inspires a love of trees, flowers and nature.
Marian Hawkins was born in Hackney London in March 1965. Her Parents Anne and Sean originally from Ireland, then moved to the Town of Dunstable, when Marian was six months old , along with her two older sisters. Attending the local Grammar School Marian enjoyed Drama groups and participating in the annual productions.
Marian Started working life as a Saturday Girl selling Clarks shoes. Then moving full time to a Car Rental Company, where she became the manager of the Luton Branch.
In 1986 Marian married Jim Hawkins, whom she met in a nearby village. Marian and Jim went on to have three children, Sarah, Rose and John. They are extremely proud of their three children. Once in school Marian returned to the workplace where she worked as an accounts clerk at their family haulage business.
To this day Marian works alongside her husband who runs his family haulage firm.
Marian has always had a way with words and a particular love for poems. Always enjoying that personal touch she would often be asked to create personal verse for friends and family on special occasions.
Treeture Creature and Flowerbuds is the first series of books written by Marian and came to her whilst walking her two Dogs and fondly remembering her days at Brownies. The game would involve having to name trees that began with the letters of the word Brownies and then heading off to the local parks to find the matching leaves.
Knowing how much technology takes up our children's time she saw an opportunity to develop some characters that would encourage children to get outside and explore, whilst learning about the importance of the nature around us.
Marian's first Character Oaky, was initially bought to life in illustration by Oliver Stubbs and further characters and illustrations worked on by Gaynor Volpi. This was a very exciting moment developing Oaky. The logo created by Peter True will head up a series of connected books. These books are targeting an age range of 4-6 years old. They will be accompanied by a smaller Swatch book featuring all the characters that you can meet in the books.
